Tourism in Brazil

If you are thinking of doing tourism in Brazil, you are thinking of staying at Che Lagarto Hostels. Brazil is an enormous, diverse country, teeming with amazing spots like the Caribbean northeast, magical Rio de Janeiro, paradisiacal islands such as Ilha Grande –facing Angra dos Reis–, the Amazon, the Pantanal, the hills, the Iguaçu waterfalls, and over 7,000 kilometers of splendid beaches. Brazilian tourism is growing on a daily basis, young tourists and backpackers increasing in number at an astonishing pace. Brazil is home to the largest Hostelling International hostel network in the world, and it has some of the best-equipped private hostels.

Che Lagarto Hostels is Brazil’s first private hostel network. It is a partner company of Hostelling International, and it counts on hostels in Rio de Janeiro, Parati and Ilha Grande, facing Angra dos Reis –a fantastic island offering outstanding scuba-diving– 90 per cent of which is a protected natural reserve. We offer three hostels in Rio de Janeiro, each featuring a distinctive touch, varied rates and unique locations, so that you can choose the one that best suits your interests during your stay in town.

Our fourth hostel is situated in Ilha Grande, on the tip of Abraon bay, a fabulous place which exceeds the possibilities of written description. The hostel is literally located over the sea, so that when the tide rises, the sea passes just below the terrace! The island is located some 150 kilometers south of Rio de Janeiro, facing Angra dos Reis, and 5 kilometers away from the seashore. 90 per cent of the island is a protected natural reserve; there are no cars and some virgins beaches can only be reached by motorboat, or after a two-hour-long walk through the forest. The sea is among the most crystalline in the world, which renders it ideal for scuba-diving. And if you are not into scuba-diving, here you will have the perfect chance to try it out and live an unforgettable experience.

Our fifth hostel in Brazil is located in Paraty, a picturesque, Portuguese style colonial city which is well worth a visit. Parati is 250 kilometers south of Rio de Janeiro, and although it can be enjoyed by daylight, we suggest that you spend at least one or two nights there to appreciate the essence of a unique Brazilian city.

Che Lagarto Hostels is right where it should be, in each destination that is worth visiting. And we will soon expand to other magnificent locations, seeking to offer more inexpensive, high-quality hostels with plenty of benefits.
