Where to eat and drink?:

Paraty is a town famous because of the gastronomy. Here you can find traditional restaurants with the “caiçara” (local) and international food... examples: Punto divino (italien restaurant) Bartholomeu (speciality: argentina meat), Arpoador (traditional restaurant where you can eat the best “moqueca” (seafood) of Paraty) Ram Dam (soups and good wine) Casa do Fogo (very good flambed food with local cachaça) Margarida Café (one of the most restaurant, very good traditional food and pizza) Kyoto Sushi (the best Japanese restaurant, just in front of the hostel) Your Che Lagarto hostel in paraty also offers every night a different, cheap and very tasty food in a good atmosphere as usual in a Che Lagarto Hostel! The hostel is less than 150 m from the historic center. You can reach all the restaurants walking. Prices between 25 RS up to 200 RS.

Where to go dancing:

There are different options, like “Paraty 33” (live music, DJ, and good food), Dino’s Bar (cheaper than Paraty 33, also live music and DJ) There is many bars in town and many festivals during the year (Literature Festival (FLIP), Cinema festival, photo festival (Paraty em Foco), Cachaça festival and many more!) Clothing:

Clothes to bring with you :located between the Sea and the mountains, the summer is hot. It is always welcome to bring your “hawaina” (or buy it here!) and shorts. During the winter, it can get a bit cold

Climate:

You can divided in two: hot and humid summer with about 30 degrees. In winter, fresh and dry, temparature around 20 degrees.

OTHER:

Others: we recommend you to bring mosquito repellent and sun block with high protection! The trecking around Paraty can be done with flip flops, It s also always good to have plastic bag for cameras cause of the rain that can always fall!! Transfers It s easy to get here by bus from the main destinations, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. From sao Paulo, take a bus of “tiete” terminal bus station. The company is called “reunidas”, it costs about 45 RS. From Rio de Janeiro, the company is “costa Verde”, about 4hours ride, 50RS. From “Ilha Grande”, ferry to Angra dos Reis, than “colitur” bus, 2 hours (8.25 RS). The bus leaves every 40 min to Paraty.

The three must-see destinations

-Paraty’s Bay by boat. One of the most beautiful Bay of Brazil, that you can visit by boat (30 RS), private boat (40RS per hour) or by kayak (50 for a guided tour)
-Waterfalls: you can go on Jeep tour to the most beautiful waterfalls of Paraty(50RS), by bus (3.50), by bike (25 RS) or by horse (80 RS).
-Trindade. Around 40 minutes by bus (3 RS) you will find the famous “trindade” village, ancient hippy village from the 70’. Beautiful beaches and 40 min walking to the “Caixadaco” natural pool

Tours

Jeep tours: pick up at the hostel to descover the best waterfalls (Pedra Branca, Póco do Ingles, Tobogã,) of Paraty and visit some “cachaça” factory (“alambique”)
Boat trip: around the Bay of paraty you ll enjoy the most beautiful islands and beaches. Snorkling. You can also do Kayak, horse riding, diving, bicking, surf classes and many more
