The Eastern Republic of Uruguay takes its name from its position at the east side of the Uruguay river. That’s why, and because of historical situations, sometimes uruguayans are called “easterns”. As for the language, it comes from the guaraní and it can be translated as “river where the bird lives”.

Uruguay is placed on South America, with an amazing eastern shore pointing to the Atlantic Ocean. Its neighbors are Brasil on the north, Argentina on the west, at the south the De la Plata River and by the east with the Atlantic Ocean. Uruguay works as a bridge between the most important economical centers of the region; Brasil and Argentina.

The region of this rather small country is about 176.215 Km2, but still it can contain Holland, Denmark, Belgium y Sweden regions all together.

Without doubt, what gives Uruguay one of the top places on rankings of destinations in south america is its amazing beaches, having 450 kms of shores over la Plata and 220 kms of maritimal shores on the Atlantic.

Uruguay has 19 districts and its capital name is Montevideo. Considered by many the most beautiful capital on SouthAmerica, Montevideo has many great things to offer tourism.

The temperature in this part of the planet is about 17º at springtime, 25º at summer, 18º at autumn and 12º on winter.

Uruguay population has its origins on the European culture, specially the italian and spanish part of the continent. They are friendly and outgoing people.
